Teeth Whitening

- In-office teeth whitening. In-office teeth whitening is perfect for patients who want immediate results. Power bleaching is performed in only one to three one-hour visits to our Southampton office. During the procedure, the whitening solution is applied to teeth and activated with a laser while a rubber protector guards the gums. Oxygen from the whitening solution then penetrates the enamel to bleach away stains and discolorations. Possible side effects such as mild sensitivity and white patches at the gum line are temporary and generally disappear within a few days. Power bleaching achieves lasting results for a dazzlingly white smile.
- At-home teeth whitening. Dr. Habbel offers at-home teeth whitening agents that are superior to any over-the-counter product. At-home teeth whitening eliminates stains and discolorations with a whitening solution that you apply using clear custom-made trays that fit over your teeth like a mouth guard. Dr. Habbel will begin to mold your trays to fit your teeth comfortably during your first visit. At home, you will simply fill the trays with whitening solution and wear them every night until you achieve the level of whiteness you want, usually after about four weeks of regular use. Dr. Habbel also remolds your trays free-of-charge whenever he places porcelain veneers, crowns, or other devices that alter the shape of your teeth.
Laser Gum Contouring
Gum contouring is a procedure designed for patients concerned about their "gummy" smiles. The diode laser is perfect for gum contouring because it is extremely precise and does not affect surrounding tissue. The laser is used to raise and even out the gum line, exposing more of the tooth and revealing a more harmonious, radiant smile. After local anesthetic is applied to the gums, excess gum tissue is trimmed away with the laser, sealing blood vessels for minimal bleeding and a speedy recovery. This straightforward procedure is performed in one office visit with minimal discomfort and amazing results. Porcelain Veneers
Dr. Habbel is known for his ability to achieve stellar smile transformations using porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers can quickly alter the shape, color, and alignment of teeth without the hassle or time commitment of braces. Veneers are small porcelain shells that fit over teeth. They look and feel completely natural and provide permanent cosmetic enhancement. Before veneers are placed, molds of your teeth are taken during your initial visit. The veneers are then crafted in a laboratory from this mold in order to create a smile tailored to your unique needs. Meanwhile, your teeth will be reshaped very slightly under light anesthetic to ensure an optimal fit, and you will wear temporary veneers until your permanent veneers are ready. In about two weeks, Dr. Habbel applies the veneers with medical grade cement for a lasting fit. Patients are amazed at the cosmetic transformations that are possible with porcelain veneers.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a good option for patients with minor chips and tooth discolorations. A tooth-colored composite resin material is applied to the chipped or discolored spot to smooth it over and conceal it. Dr. Habbel uses bonding materials specially blended to match your natural tooth color for a seamless finish.
Tooth-colored fillings
Dr. Habbel's practice offers tooth-colored fillings as an aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional metal fillings. Tooth-colored fillings blend perfectly with your natural teeth, so others won't even be able to tell that you have them. We can also remove old metal fillings and replace them with tooth-colored versions, thereby eliminating the aesthetic impact of visible dental work.
